Rider Terms & Conditions

Last Updated on January 29, 2018

The following Rider Terms and Conditions apply to riders at all times when travelling on our Chariot services. These Rider Terms and Conditions are in addition to the relevant Chariot service terms applicable to your journey, such as the Commuter Terms of Service which you should also familiarise yourself with.

Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited on any Chariot Shuttle:

  • Toxic, flammable, corrosive or otherwise dangerous chemicals or materials, including but not limited to liquid bleach, acid, tear gas, pepper spray, radioactive and harmful bacteriological materials.
  • Firearms, guns, knives, blades, sharp or offensive weapons or any other object which Chariot considers unsafe or may cause injury or damage to other passengers or property.
  • Household and automotive items, including but not limited to antiques, appliances, artwork, furniture, machinery and car parts, powered tools, silverware, tyres, and tow bars.
  • Explosive, propellant or flammable items, including but not limited to flammable gases, liquids, fuels, fireworks, flares and other explosive devices, canisters and tanks, (except where for medical reasons).
  • Open alcoholic beverages. Alcohol may be transported provided it is kept in a closed and stored container.
  • Hoverboards, scooters, unicycles and oversized sports equipment.
  • Bicycles, except where we have made arrangements on request for you to travel with a bicycle and where there is sufficient storage for your bicycle on our bicycle racks.

Smoking & Alcohol

The law requires that all Chariot vehicles are smoke-free. All Chariots are entirely non-smoking and smoking (including of e-cigarettes) is strictly prohibited.

No alcohol may be consumed on any Chariot Shuttle.

Pets

Small animals may be allowed on board Chariot if they are kept in a suitable carrier that is held on the rider's lap. Unfortunately, Chariot does not allow large animals that do not fit in a carrier on the rider's lap to board Chariot Shuttles. However, please see the next section in relation to assistance dogs.

When bringing animals on board, please be courteous to your fellow riders as some may be allergic or uncomfortable around animals. Riders are responsible for the care and supervision of their animal.

Chariot reserves the right to refuse service to riders or ask a rider (and their accompanying animal) to disembark if their animal is a cause for safety, hygiene, health or comfort concerns or in any way that may be regarded as threatening to Chariot staff or other passengers.

Assistance Dogs

Chariot welcomes all assistance dogs on-board its vehicles. Where possible, large assistance dogs should remain on the floor of the vehicle, while smaller assistance dogs may be kept in the rider's lap.

If you have any questions about the specifics of Chariot's assistance animal policy, please contact our Team through the Website chat, the "I want to speak with a Chariot Team Member" option available in the App's Support menu, by emailing at [email protected] or by calling 0808 178 8757.

Disabled Passengers

Chariot welcomes all passengers, including those who use wheelchairs and other mobility aids. If a wheelchair accessible vehicle will be required, please contact our Team through the Website chat, the "I want to speak with a Chariot Team Member" option available in the App's Support menu, by emailing at [email protected] or by calling 0808 178 8757 to make arrangements for your request.

Our drivers can provide assistance on boarding and disembarking the Chariot Shuttle if requested.

Luggage

Riders may bring hand luggage on-board Chariot Shuttles. All luggage or items brought on-board must follow these requirements:

  • Luggage space is limited and subject to availability. All items must fit either on the rider's lap, the space at their feet, beneath the seat, or where available in the boot of the Chariot Shuttle.
  • All personal items and luggage must not obstruct entry or exit of the vehicle.
  • Where space is available, larger items should be stored in the boot of the Chariot Shuttle.
  • Pushchairs or other infant transportation devices are allowed, provided there is sufficient storage space.
  • When bringing luggage onto a Chariot Shuttle, be courteous to fellow riders. Items should not be stored on an adjacent seat, regardless of whether or not another rider is present.
  • While drivers may offer assistance with some items, it is ultimately the rider's responsibility to safely load and unload their items from a Chariot.

Chariot and its drivers reserve the right to deny loading of any luggage or items reasonably deemed to be a hazard to safe operation of the vehicle, or that could cause discomfort to other riders.

Passenger Comfort

Please refrain from activity that could cause discomfort for fellow passengers whilst on board a Chariot. This includes not playing loud music or eating hot/pungent food whilst on board.
